About me
The tech world doesn't need another blog just like it doesn't need another ex-banker in VC. But we also didn't need multiple 15 minute grocery delivery options or Limp Bizkit's cover of Faith yet here we are. In all honesty, I just dislike Medium.
November 2021 was a record breaking month for funding. Rivian had posted the 7th largest IPO in the US (ever) at a $66bn valuation without any revenue. Bird had scooted public via a SPAC at a $2.3bn valuation, and 🥁 I had just joined the VC industry 🤟🏼 #ecosystem #honouredtoannounce #🚀
A few months in and by the time I was vaguely helpful – debatable if that's still the case – the seatbelt sign had switched on. Bird is now worth $74m[1]. "It's downhill from here."
Before joining Keen, I spent five years in investment banking in London. Late night, 'accretive' merger models and logo alignment fuelled by terrible vending machine coffee. I also spent a year at a payments company working across corp dev, strategic investments and partnerships.
I was born in Pakistan but grew up in Yorkshire. I love biriyani as much as a good Sunday roast. I grew up on video games, street cricket and hip hop music. Nas' Illmatic is my favourite album. I'm a (suffering) Man Utd fan. (I write in parentheses quite a bit). I never learned to swim but working on it.
